A Tour Inside the SUBER-Craftex Woodworking Shop – Where Ideas Become Heirloom Furniture

Welcome to the heart of SUBER-Craftex – our dedicated woodworking workshop in Buea Southwest Region.. This is the space where raw timber is transformed into custom bookshelves, tables, cabinets, decorative pieces, and more. Whether you're a client curious about how your order comes to life or someone dreaming of starting their own craft journey, come take a virtual tour with us!

First Impressions – The Main Workbench Area

As you step inside, the first thing you notice is the long, heavy-duty workbench that runs along one wall. This is our central command station:

  • Multiple vices and clamps for holding wood securely

  • A large, flat surface (made from thick plywood topped with hardboard) perfect for assembly, sanding, and measuring

  • Power strip with extension cables neatly routed underneath to keep the floor clear

  • Overhead LED lighting for bright, shadow-free visibility (essential when checking grain direction or fine joinery)

Right now you can see our miter saw station set up in the foreground:

  • A powerful sliding compound miter saw (blue/teal model) mounted securely

  • Zero-clearance fence extensions and stop blocks for repeatable, accurate crosscuts

  • Dust collection hose attached (we're always working on better dust management!)

  • Sacrificial wooden table extensions to support long boards and reduce tear-out

This station handles almost every angled cut we need – from picture frames to bookshelf sides.

The Tool Wall & Storage – Everything Has Its Place

Behind the main bench is our iconic tool wall – the most photographed part of the shop:

  • Pegboard and French cleat system loaded with hand tools: chisels, mallets, hand planes, squares, levels, rasps, files, and more

  • Power tools on dedicated shelves: drills, impact drivers, orbital sander, jigsaw, router

  • Overhead shelf for frequently used items: glue bottles, measuring tapes, pencils, safety gear

  • Yellow safety cabinets and organizers for blades, bits, and small hardware

  • Hanging racks for clamps (bar clamps, quick-grips, pipe clamps) – we believe you can never have too many clamps!

Under the bench are labeled bins and drawers:

  • Scrap wood sorted by species and size

  • Finishing supplies (polyurethane, oils, sandpaper grits)

  • Hardware (screws, nails, hinges, knobs)

The Cutting & Machining Zone

To the side is our table saw area (not fully visible in every photo, but always ready):

  • Sturdy table saw with extension wings

  • Push sticks, featherboards, and riving knife for safe ripping

  • Nearby band saw for curved cuts and resawing

  • Jointer and planer station for preparing rough lumber

We keep these machines spaced apart with good infeed/outfeed clearance so we can safely handle full sheets of plywood or long boards.

Finishing & Assembly Corner

In one quieter corner we have:

  • Dedicated finishing table (covered when spraying or oiling)

  • Small compressor for pneumatic brad nailer and cleanup

  • Drying rack for freshly finished pieces

  • Good ventilation fan (dust and fumes are our biggest challenges in a small space)

Why We Love This Workshop

This isn’t a fancy showroom – it’s a real working space built over time with blood, sweat, sawdust, and love. Every nick in the bench, every tool hung just right, tells a story of projects completed and lessons learned. The blue walls keep it cool and calm, the natural light from the windows inspires creativity, and the smell of fresh mahogany and sawdust is our daily motivation.

Most importantly, this shop is organized for efficiency and safety:

  • Clear walkways

  • Tools returned to their spots after use

  • Fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, and dust masks always accessible

  • Power tools unplugged when not in use
